Alasia Development, established in 1973, in Greece, has a notably broad scope, as suggested by its name, which also alludes to the Cypriot heritage of the owner's family. This is because "Alasia" was once thought to be the prehistoric name of Cyprus.
However, following the excavations in Engomi, Cyprus, carried out by the French archaeological expedition from 1946 to 1950, and by the Cypriot archaeological service, it was confirmed that Alasia was a large, wealthy, and influential city, located where the current village of Engomi now stands.
Alasia Development SA, incorporated under the Greek law, lists the well-known shipowner family of Polys Hajioannou as its primary shareholder.
The company was originally established with a predominant emphasis on two key areas: real estate and agricultural production. However, in the past decade, recognizing the growing potential and importance of the energy sector, and driven by a desire to diversify its portfolio, the company has progressively ventured into this field. Through carefully planned and executed investments, it has gradually established a presence in the energy sector.
Thus, among other assets, it owns a photovoltaic park with a total capacity of 1,473 MW, located in the "Apatheia - Vrachaki" area of the Troizina Municipality in NorthEastern Peloponesse Greece.
Furthermore, last December, it secured two electricity production licenses from RAE (Greece's Energy Regulator), each utilizing storage batteries of 50 MW, resulting in a total capacity of 100 MW / 250 MWh.
The units will be situated in the "Bourboutsana Koursala" and "Bourboutsana-Sessi Karela" areas of the Kropia Municipality in Eastern Attica, in proximity to Athens and will be interconnected with the Greek system.
